well its over for another year...salendine nook high school put on their dracula spectacula extravaganza ,performing to over 1000 people over a run of 4 nights.
over 100 students played a part in the production and life routes is now firmly embeded in the life of the school.
great after party too.....!!

Gateshead Youth Assembly Life Routes Group visited the Houses of Parliament yesterday as guests of Dave Anderson MP for Blaydon. "We had a great time everyone should go there it is really interesting" said one of the group. "We even went in the House of Commons and saw where everyone sits. It is much smaller than I thought it was." "I felt honoured to be allowed to go but then they said it was ours, even the Queen isn't allowed in"

dracula spectacula is now moving on apace with rehearsals underway,the scenery is under construction ,and badges and t shirts on order...........the access all areas crew are adding vital support to the production and are busy organising a dracula display for the schools foyer...as is our trade mark they have "pimped" an old gym bench for their dracula pictures to rest on.....what do you think of it??
kirklees school ,salendine nook high have got the life routes bug and are using their next school production as a life routes project............
singers ,dancers actors ,musicians ,stage crew etc will get the chance to reflect on how their role in the production is helping them to develop life skills and students who wouldnt normally get involved in a play will be encourage to take part as part of the projects core aims........

calerdales PITSTOP project is coming on board as the latest liferoutes project to get underway in yorkshire and humberside.
pitstop work with a wide range of young people who come to their workshops in elland ,halifax to build and maintain go karts which young people themselves then take off to the race track in york to put through their paces on race day. the projects spread out over several weeks and participants learn a lot of practical skills, teamworking skills, problem solving etc along the way.
there will be over 80 young people taking part in life routes this way between now and 2008.
these projects are being coordinated by katie,sarah and carly who are busy getting questionnaires and scrapbooks completed ,taking photos etc in order to complete their own peer mentoring awards.

the second battered railway bench has now been pimped up in halifax.
calder high students have just put the finishing touches to their very own blinged up bench. it will stand (or sit !) proudly next to the caretakers block for weary students to use at breaks.watch out if you live in halifax....your seats are not safe.
young people from calderdale are literally LOVING EVERY MINUTE of the new life routes activity club run by the councils sensory support services. (specialist inclusion services to be exact)
approaching 30 young people have been involved in acitivities from go karting to canoeing after the first 5 sessions of the new club.
life routes ambassadors who are used to youth projects have been acting as volunteers to help set the project up and welcome new members.
the project now officially titled LOVING EVERY MINUTE met up this week at halifax town hall to discuss their progress ,eat pizza ,sneak into the council chamber to have alook around and decide on their next five sets of activities.

as you know from earlier posts ,students from st clres house ,halifax have been busy reclaiming a broken old railway waiting room bench into their very own customised seating area for their games room.
for under £20.00 they have transformed the bench into a seat for 4 (5 at a push) ,which carries pictures of their favourite footballers and teams.
it has also had a serious new paint job.
relying on their team work and problem solving abilities they have hammered ,glued ,drilled and spray painted their way to success.
